Welcome to our new Chapter in the Spotlight Page

November 2009 - the spotlight is on the Southeast PA Chapter - by now, many know that Judy Garber had a Kerr condensing furnace installed in her home early this fall.  The R&D for this new 97% furnace was supported by NORA.  Since my house was used as a test site, it just made sense to invite my chapter over for a dinner meeting.  Our special guests that evening were the folks from Kerr, Ray Tretheway and Gregor Wilson.  It seemed like we had more attendees at this meeting than usual!!  Was it my cooking or the new furnace.   A special thanks to the two companies that installed the furnace - Schwanger Brothers, Lancaster PA and V.R. Boltz, Lebanon.

You might have describe this event as a special version of This Old House - my 1856 farmhouse may be old but it has the most modern oil fired furnace installed.  And does it save on fuel!!  It is quiet and comfortable.

Data doesn't lie - can you read the 95.2% efficient?  It was so much fun to have the technicians who installed the unit say, "I've never seen an oil fired furnace get this high a rating."

Jeff Mace, Riello shows some of the members how to properly set-up the burner.

Next Meeting . . . . NO, not at my house.  But do stay tuned for results of the annual tune-up.  Tom Butcher, Brookhaven Labs has already instructed me that he wants photos of the heat exchanger.  And the tank is filled with low sulfer fuel.
