NAOHSM Announces its 2010 Industry Award Winners

At its annual Awards Banquet held during the Association's annual convention & trade show, May 23-27th, Providence Rhode the Award Winners were announced.


Instructor of the Year – Ed Frazier

Ed Frazier is a HVAC teacher at Saunders Trades & Technical High School, Yonkers NY. He is a member of the Westchester Chapter. He started his career with Exxon Oil from 1969-1977. He then began his teaching career at Saunders. He is known as someone to look up to – being called upon at times to help with hard to place students. Ed won the Yonkers Public School District Occupational Teacher of the Year in 2001 and 2009. He is also the owner/instructor of his own karate school having been a team captain from 1976-1982 on the International Karate Team. Ed has his B.S. Degree from City College of NY.


Lou Ehlich Award – Robert O'Rourke

Bob has been a member of the Westchester Chapter for 20 years. He's works for Edwards, Platt & Deely. He's served in numerous leadership roles for chapter, including president for 4 years. He has been the New York area trainer for Watts Regulator Co. since 1974 participating in code updates and enforcement and education. He's been a guest lecturer at Saunders Technical as well as BOCES schools in the Westchester area. He's donated plenty of equipment for the local schools and on a personal note is he also a talented musician.


Service Manager of the Year – Al Breda

Al is the Service Manager for Sippin Energy, Monroe, CT. Gary Sippin states in his letter of recommendation, "what impreses me about Al is his enthusiasm and commitment to the trade." Al has been a member of the Fairfield County and the New Haven Chapters. He serves as the secretary for both chapters as well as National. Just recently Al was voted as a National V.P. He has spearheaded numerous Oilheat Cares projects and always participates in the Care to Ride event. Al is involved with ICPA as well as teaching. When Al accepts a challenge he makes it happen in a professional prompt manner.


Hugh McKee Award – Scott Hinkley

Scott is a member of the NH/VT and Twin State Valley Chapters. He owns his company, R.E. Hinkley Co along with his wife, Lissa. Scott served on the National board from 1992 and worked his way up to President in 2000. He served two terms. Scott's legacy includes the challenge to the NAOHSM Chapters to get involved at the local level with schools and colleges. With his push, most of the 30 chapters have adopted their local tech school. He is a member of the Better Home Heat Council of NY and the VT Oil Heat Institute.

Lifetime Achievement Award

This special award is one that is bestowed upon an individual that has left their mark on our Association and Industry - Bob Craig who retired in 2009 from Carlin Combustion Technology fits that description. Bob worked his entire life in the oilheat industry including for an oil company. As a salesman, Bob travelled extensively throughout Oil Heat territory and could always be counted upon for help. He is also known as a true gentleman. Bob and his wife Kay have several children.
